Online Housing Application

Two easy steps to register
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities. The Center for Disability Access and Resources (CeDAR) and University Housing work closely together to identify appropriate and available housing solutions for students with a documented disability to afford access to housing. CeDAR will oversee and process all housing accommodation requests and Emotional Support Animal (ESA) requests.

Housing Accommodation Requests:
Students requesting special housing accommodation(s) must complete and submit this form to receive consideration. Reasonable accommodation(s) are determined on an individual basis after considering the specific disability and documentation of functional limitations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Accommodation requests based on personal preferences, such as a low-distraction environment, specific room or roommate assignment, or allergen-free housing, are unreasonable and cannot be honored. Please note that a diagnosis in and of itself does not automatically qualify you for the accommodation(s) requested.

This process may take 10-15 business days to receive and review the application. If more information is necessary, a CeDAR staff will contact you.

Please be aware that all housing accommodation requests are carefully reviewed and assessed on an individual basis.

Emotional Support Animal Requests:
An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is viewed as a reasonable accommodation in a housing unit that has a no-pet policy for its residents under the Fair Housing Act (FHA). Residence Halls are considered a part of the FHA. ESAs provide a measure of support and comfort to individuals with qualifying disabilities and are a prescribed part of therapy for emotional and psychological disabilities and serve to alleviate symptoms of the disability.

This process may take up to two weeks for your application and documentation to be processed, even with sufficient documentation. If the documentation submitted is insufficient, the processing time will increase.

Please be aware that all ESA requests are carefully reviewed and assessed on an individual basis.

It is your responsibility to comply with any housing deadlines and housing application requirements set forth by the FAMU Housing Department.
